We’ve been carrying out recording work at St Chad’s Church, Bradford since the summer of 2013.  At present we’re recording the memorials, metalwork, stonework, woodwork, textiles, paintings, libraries, windows and other miscellaneous items in the church

It’s engrossing and interesting work where we produce records of the contents of places of worship, describing items accurately and researching the history of them where possible.

Church recorders operate nationwide and are interdenominational.  You don’t have to be religious to enjoy this valuable work and you don’t need to have in-depth knowledge.  Training is given by experienced Church Recorders and experts in the relevant fields and we work in groups of 2 or 3 people.

Our group works at St Chad’s between 10.15am and 12.15 pm on alternate Thursdays.

The Church is just off Bradford’s ring road at Whetley Lane and Carlisle Road, as if you were going to the Bradford Royal Infirmary.  It’s on the left going up Toller Lane.  There is parking on the road side and in the church car park at the back.

If you have some time to spare and are interested in helping record and preserve our heritage then we would like your help in completing our project of recording St. Chad’s Church.
